WELCOME TO THE
BROADWAY LIMITED LOCOMOTIVE WORKS
Projects
With the lack of appropriate commuter equipment in Rail Simulator, and lack of Pennsylvania Railroad equipment, Broadway Limited Locomotive Works quickly and quietly began evaluating what it would take to bring our rolling stock up to date. Our first Rail Simulator add-on, A Pullman Heavyweight 6-3 Sleeping Car, should be available soon.
Not content with the Pullman 6-3's being the first, I decided to re-evaluate the P70s and figure out what it would take to upgrade these, and it's been an interesting road so far.

AutoCAD Render of the new 2D-P5 Trucks (Subject to revision yet)
The original goal of this project was to attempt to reuse as much as possible, while upgrading to meet Rail Simulator's newer features. However, this idea was short lived, due in part to my demands on quality. It was at this stage that model showed how truly outdated it was, despite being an upgrade of an original version.
Construction began first with reworking the sides to include cut out windows and even cut out window frames, and went relatively fast in AutoCAd until a new problem arose: somehow, the doors on either end were not the same size, and subsequently were throwing off the new window alignments. Repairs at this stage began first with fixing the walls to perfectly line up. once done, the original floor, roof, ends, and truck placement were no longer properly positioned and required shifting. This took a complete two days to handle due in part to the sensitivity of the realignment.
A new floor and roof quickly replaced the old one, and the underframe parts shifted to properly orient them. (Image below shows car with cut out windows, fixed roof, floor, properly oriented underframe parts, replacement doors and orienting cubes)

NOTE: Underframe parts and trucks still subject to revision. Grabs, steam and train lines still need installed, as do new diaphragms and grabs

CURRENT PROGRESS (As of November 29th, 2009)

Following a test shot of the artwork on the trucks, and acquisition of new base artwork for the trucks, it has been decided that a third rebuild is going to be done to make it easier for texturing of the finished trucks. As the rest of the project goes on, there is still no timeline for this project.

Preproduction screenshot to show current progress. The steps, and seating are wearing temporary textures. Work continues to make this BLLW's most detailed P70 Series coach ever. Special thanks goes out to Steve Thomas, Kurt Kaminer, and a few others who have helped out by supplying much needed photos and opinions. The finished product should be a real gem worthy of running...

FURTHER NEWS:
Preliminary samples of this car are runnable in Rail Simulator, with a lot more work required before even being considered for release. Windows require Transparency settings to be tweaked, an interior needs finished (This also requires new walkover seating be created), and a new passenger view. Other exterior details needing added yet include Auto Numbering, Operating drop steps and keying the door animations. Once this is done, it is highly possible for Other versions of this car to develop, such as P70FBR's P70FAR's, P70 Deluxe, and P70R's. It is in high hopes that these become milestones of the Keystone Legends Series.
Finally! A test run. Work continues on the PRR Commuter Project with more details yet to be applied
